Event Details

Agile thrives on the collaboration of teams of people solving complex problems together. At the same time, teams and organisations are more globally distributed and diverse than ever.

We are conditioned culturally from an early age, with each of us developing a set of values and behaviors that differ from those in other parts of the world. What impact then, does culture have on Agile adoption? Are some cultures naturally more suited to adopting Agile than others? What strategies can be employed to maximize the value of diverse Agile teams?

In this talk, we explore these questions, cultural models and the importance of awareness of cultural differences for Agile teams.

The talk is based on the research that led to the book “”Adopting Agile Across Borders””.

David Spinks has been in the IT industry since 2001 starting in software development. In 2012 his journey into Agile started when he became a Scrum Master and he has worked with dozens of Agile teams since then.

David has experience that spans the fields of ecommerce, higher education, finance, insurance, and social housing. He is active in the Agile community, regularly blogging, and speaking at meetups and conferences around the world.

David is a Scrum.org Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) and an Accredited Kanban Trainer (AKT) with Kanban University. He is the co-author of the book, “”Adopting Agile Across Borders”” based on research carried out from visiting organisations and meeting Agile practitioners around the world.
